Report: EU to decide on new Russia sanctions in Siemens row Fri

MOSCOW, Aug 4 (PRIME) -- The E.U. will decide whether to expand a blacklist of Russian people and companies involved in Siemens’ turbines delivery to Crimea on Friday, Reuters reported, citing two diplomatic sources.

“The E.U. states have until later on Friday to submit any complaints to the proposal to extend the Russia blacklist. Two diplomatic sources said it looked like there will be no obstacles and the decision will be taken,” the newswire reported.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that the information does not call for Moscow’s reaction. “This is no reason for us to react,” he said.

Siemens said in July that all the four turbines meant to be used on a Russian power plant on the Taman Peninsula were illegally shipped to Crimea, forcing the company to cancel its licensing agreements to sell power equipment to Russian firms and suspend the current agreements with state-run companies.
